CCRCC Soars Across the Ages
At its October meeting, the Champaign County Radio Control Club proudly presented graduation certificates to 11 more students from the 2025 Flight Training Program. This year’s program has welcomed participants from ages 7 to 69, reflecting the club’s wide appeal across generations. With 30 graduates now certified and 7 more students still in training, 2025 is shaping up to be one of our most successful seasons yet. Featured below are our youngest and oldest active members — an inspiring 80 years apart in age!The Champaign County Radio Control Club is a chartered member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics.

CCRCC Winter RC Flying Kickoff Party – Event Recap
What an incredible day! On Saturday, November 8th, the Champaign County Radio Control Club (CCRCC) hosted its first-ever Winter Indoor RC Flying Kickoff Party, drawing nearly 100 attendees, including families, kids, new learners, and seasoned pilots. The atmosphere was electric as community members came together to celebrate RC aviation, hands-on learning, and the shared joy of flying.Highlights from the day:· Students on simulators and earning the ability to move onto the flight line.· Expert instructors buddy-boxing with new pilots to the skies and guiding them through their very first RC flights.· Families enjoying a pizza lunch together, a perfect break before more flying.· Excitement at the raffle drawing, with winners taking home RC planes and gear.· RC flight demonstrations that wowed the crowd with aerobatics and precision flying.· Fun candid moments that captured the smiles, teamwork, and energy of the day.We’re proud of how much the club has grown and grateful to our volunteers, instructors, and families who made this event possible. CCRCC Family Movie Night Recap
On Monday, November 24, the Champaign County RC Club hosted a special Family Movie Night at The Open Room in Mahomet. Families gathered to enjoy Disney’s Planes on the big screen, a perfect way to combine aviation excitement with holiday fun during Thanksgiving break. Doors opened at 5:30 p.m., and the movie began at 6:00 p.m., with free popcorn and water adding to the festive atmosphere.The evening drew a wonderful crowd of 42 people representing 14 families, making it a lively and memorable occasion. Before the film, Kaleb Spencer shared news about an upcoming CCRCC Build Day, a hands-on workshop where kids, teens, and adults will have the chance to build and fly their own RC airplane. The project will feature the FliteTest Nutball, an easy-to-build design suited for both indoor and outdoor adventures.Family Movie Night was a great success, highlighting CCRCC’s commitment to bringing members together and inspiring the next generation of aviation enthusiasts. Thanks to John and Heather Lei for leading this activity, as well as to Jeremy and Christine Henrichs for generously providing access to The Open Room.
